Diets don’t work! They completely miss the point. Although they may help you drop a few pounds short-term, they are useless for being slim long-term and can actually be harmful. The average woman will have tried at least 50 diets in her lifetime. The average dieter will have put the weight back on within a year of coming off their current diet.
Here’s why to avoid diets:-
1. Most importantly, diets just don’t work! They don’t deal with why you overeat or don’t exercise adequately, that is, the cause of why you are overweight in the first place. If you are eating compulsively, you are doing it to feel better in some way, not to nourish yourself.
2. Diets are unhealthy. The body needs a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat to function properly.
3. Diets tell you what to eat and what not to eat. Pointless – the vast majority of people already know what to eat and not eat. It’s not what you eat that’s the issue, what’s important is why you eat what you do.
4. Diets are not sustainable. You may lose a few pounds initially but the body is not designed to cope with the lack of vital nutrients long-term. You may do well for a few days or even a few weeks, but sooner or later you’ll feel deprived or you’ll experience a setback in your life, you binge eat, feel disappointed and a failure, then come off the wagon completely.
