Hypnotherapy Explained (Part 1)

Your Brain

You have in your possession an amazing thing – your brain. This powerful biological computer controls body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing. It is mainly your brain that keeps you alive, by controlling all your other major organs.

Your brain takes in a huge amount of information about the world we live in, and it does this through your 5 senses – seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting. Your brain also allows you to move, to talk, to remember, to process and recall information, to dream, to imagine and to learn.

Your brain has around 100 billion nerve cells, called neurons. These neurons basically gather and transmit signals, and there are different types of neurons – some send signals to the body’s nervous system to control movement, and others control thought. Each neuron is connected to around 10,000 others, and so the total number of neuro-connections in your brain is a mind-boggling 1000 trillion.
